Overtime But Not For Work

At first it was just a simple pizza night, and then it became a videoke-billiards party! Despite of some plan changes few hours before our shift ended because of alibis that they could not come, the event still pushed through anyway!

The Place. It was my first time at Metrowalk in Ortigas. We were supposed to go to Music21 in Makati but Zeny suggested this place to be the venue of Gem’s nnth birthday party :-D. The party was held at Elbow Room VIP which satisfied our expectations for a late-night videoke-and-billiards and food-and-beer cravings. Because it was Friday, the place was jam-packed with TGIF gimikeros/gimikeras. The large parking space at the back was almost full.

Each VIP room has two TVs’ on both corners of the wall and a huge billiard table on the center. Up to 20 persons can party inside and share the food served on the long table at one side.

The Food. The food is okay-okay. I was not so sure if I enjoyed the food because I was not hungry during that time. I guess because we ordered mostly fried stuffs. But anyway, we went there to sing all night, remember?! :D

Billiards (of Non-Pro) In Between. One good thing about the Elbow Room is that they had billiards table inside the videoke room. While I pass the microphone to others or while I get tired eating on the table, I can play the billiards. Getting bored is not an option.

And the Party?!. Ron belted two(and more?) duet pieces such as “Hanggang Ngayon”(Regine and Ogie) and “Muli” (Gary and Regine) with Gems! Saan ka pa?! Me, Mike, Zeny, Warren, Dave Pem, and of course Gems danced to the tune of “Always”, “Breathless”, “Stop”, etc. Mike sang with Kiko matsing voice! So funny.

Later, Dennis, Ipe and our PM, Ms. Roma joined the party.

The Condo with A humungous Guard House. We left Metrowalk at around 4:30am and decided to drop by at Dave and Pem’s condo unit in Ortigas. Coffee was served to all of us who were feeling woozy all night.

Ang saya ng kantahan at sayawan.

Dave and Pem, salamat ng marami sa matapang na kape. Gising kami sa buong byahe pauwi.
Warren, Zey and Ariel, saan naman tayo sa mga birthday nyo?

We Survived the Flood

I slept the whole day yesterday because of the bad weather -- non stop raining since the other day and windy. I didn’t know I was just preparing for the flooding later. This was actually the second time we were flooded during our stay in this house. The first one was in 2001 where the Prinsa dam in Molino, Bacoor had to be opened because of too much rains and high tide as well. Jelly was 4 years old then.

Three o’clock in the afternoon. Jellypotpot woke me up after the blackout. My laptop was already running out of battery and I had to shut it down. I was very much comfortable lying on the bed, ang ginaw, ang sarap talaga matulog, then I closed my eyes again.

Four thirty in the afternoon. Jellypotpot woke me up again, but this time when I opened my eyes, it was darker and raining still.

Five o’clock in the afternoon. Daddydems and I ate dinner, just after our LPG run out of gas. What? No power, no gas, no food stock. Oh boy, what else could I ask for? Another thing to worry about was the flood. We noticed that water was slowly going up. First, at the front of our house, then in few minutes, the water was actually half way on our doorstep! It was like déjàvu!

Five thirty in the afternoon. We started moving things up somewhere elevated like on the table and on the bed. One of the first things on my mind was the living room. If the water would continue to go up, the living room would be the first to be flooded and I was right. Two of our monoblock tables outside were moved inside and the sofa sets were place one of them. The component, speakers, VCD and DVD were placed on the other table. The TV rack and the divider were not saved from the flood. During this time, the water was already inside the sala. While Daddydemz and Kuya Joel were taking care of the living room and the kitchen, Jellypotpot and I took care of two other rooms.

Six o’clock up to eight o’clock in the evening. For two hours, we were so scared and painstakingly waiting when the water would stop to get in. It was very dark outside, the only light I see was the candle in the kitchen. I didn’t even know where Putol stayed. At that point, I could only wish that everyone in the village was safe.

Eight quarter in the evening. The rain stopped, the water has also stopped from rising and airplanes were already flying over us one by one, from which I could tell that the storm had already passed. Although the power was still off, all of us were relieved that everything was over except for all the mess left by the flood!

I don’t know what worse could have happened if Jellypotpot and Kuya Joel did not help us saved our things. Thank you!

To those who texted me yesterday and asked how I was doing, thank you so much. Sorry I wasn’t able to reply back because my battery died.

We finished cleaning the floor and moving this back at Sunday lunch time, but no power yet.

Earlier today, I was so touched when my Project Managers, Ms. Roma and Sir Teddy, called me to check how were we doing after the typhoon and flooding. And I also heard the bad news that both of them were flooded too.

As I write this, my hair is so sticky, my skin is greasy and I don’t know when I could take a bath! Ewwwww.

Waking Up With Random Thoughts

The laundry is not yet done. For more than two months, my sister and I are not anymore hiring tagalaba; instead, we are taking our dirty clothes to the laundry service. We realized that it is cheaper since we are saving water, electricity, detergents and fabric conditioners for only P23.00 per kilogram. However, their machines went on repairs, my laundry is not yet done since yesterday. :/

The sun is hiding so early. I woke up unhappy at 9:30am this morning because my neck was aching. I laid on the bed with 3 pillows at my back because just before I go to bed, I ate pork&beans with hot pandesal and got so full… scared that I might get bangungot when I sleep flatly. Hehe. Then I woke up with stiff neck! and noticed that all was gray. Hay, uulan nanaman yata?

Putol is okay now. He was sick for three days, I mean he did not like to eat and always lying and sleeping. His eyes was different. Sabi ni tatay, nilalagnat daw at sinisipon, hehe. I think DaddyDemz gave him a spoon of sugar or paracetamol, I wasn’t so sure … anyway, he is okay right now! :D

Up, Up and Away

I slept last Saturday night crying after JellyPotpot successfully convinced me to watch Maalaala Mo Kaya episode ‘Bisikleta’. We were both teary-eyed through the entire episode by the way, while looking and then laughing at each other in between. Hehe.

“Kapag nagmahal ka ng tunay, nagmamahal ka ng hindi nagaantay ng kapalit”

Now, here is another drawing from me. Karla reminds me of this piece because she was with me when I made this. Karla this is for you.

No long weekend for me since I already have work tomorrow... unlike for those who will take a Holiday to observe ‘Eid Al-Fitr’ (the Festival of Fast-Breaking). Happy long weekend!

I am very hungry right now and actually wanting a double cheeseburger with lots of ketchup, vegetables, onions and tomatoes... the greasier the better! Bwahaha! :D

Anything Yellow Hypnotizes Me

From my dress, mattress, pillows, bags, slippers to my accessories, anyone could tell how I love the color yellow. Actually, when I look around, my eyes seem to focus on these analogous colors: green, yellow and orange. People who hate theses shades can hate me! :D

Yellow is sunshine. Yellow is cheerful. Yellow symbolizes wisdom and clearness of the mind. Yellow means joy and happiness.

SpongeBob and Pooh are yellow. Corn is yellow. Fuji apple is yellowish.  Cheese is yellow. Smileys are yellow!

So what’s your color?

Taking Someone For Granted

I was a fan of forwarded text quotes/jokes few years back. Everyday I would receive a number of text messages from officemates which I used to forward to my others friends and vice versa, but that was then. Now, I still receive quotes once in a while from two of my friends but I don’t forward them anymore…

Yesterday morning, while browsing some files on my computer after I watched the losing moments of Roger Federer, still disappointed and bitter, I happen to see a list of text quotes I got from the internet and compiled in a Word document years ago. It suddenly brought back some memories from the old days. :/

Then later on my way to the office, while on the bus, I was still thinking about the quotes and remembered one of them. It was about taking someone for granted…

Have you taken someone for granted?

Sometimes we forget to show our appreciation especially to the people that are mostly closest to us, physically or emotionally, because we think that it is already given and they already knew it. Say, your wife/mom/dad who cooks for your dinner, but complaining about the meal, “fried chicken nanaman?”, instead of saying thank you. Your brother/sister who sends you pasa-load right away when you run out of mobile phone credits… or your kasambahay who cleans you room and wakes you up every morning or a friend who sends you text message asking “musta na?” These are some of the simple things from them that we usually forget to appreciate.

I hated myself when I my father told me something about the meal that he has been preparing for me so that I have something to eat when I arrive at night and I did not even touch it or sometimes… I still cook for myself :(. I felt his disappointment when he said that to me. Then I realized how important appreciation is. So now, even if I am not that hungry (like when I already eat at 10pm and he prepared something for me on the table like pandesal/ulam), I make sure that I don’t take his effort for granted.

How often do you use the magic word “Thank You…”?

I think it is also a good start for me that I say the magic word “Thank you” to “other” people I meet everyday. To the tricycle drivers who take me to the bus stop, to the bus conductor who gives my bus ticket, or to the lobby guard who always opens the door for me even if it is part of their work, I always say thank you.

“Never take someone for granted.

Hold every person close to your heart

because you might wake up one day,

and realize that you’ve lost a diamond,

while you were too busy collecting stones.

Never take someone for granted.”

Restarter

I’m back! Hehehe. I really don’t know how to restart. My last decent posts were over a month ago and guess what??? The last few months were the juiciest months of this year for me!

I see some friends visiting my blog site once in a while [thank you!] and I am very sure you found no new updates [sorry for that]. I have been very busy with my family, work, friends and myself [and Facebook too]

I’ve got so many balikbayans to welcome and take care of last month. I hope they enjoyed my service and their stay at home even though I have to give way sometimes for my work. Unfortunately, we had to cancel some plans because I need to get some sleep after spending more than 12 hours in the office. I am very much looking forward that Kuya and Dith will come home together someday and visit us here.

Recently, I also had my longest vacation since 2008! Saraaaaap.

Three weeks ago, Warren

made me feel guilty to death when he got mad at me after I made a very silly joke to him. But I think we are okay now :D … a million sorry.

Putol is getting bigger and bigger.

Ooops, the milk is already making me sleepy. Before I end this post, I would like to say…

Sorry to kumareng Flooney, I failed to attend Madie’s birthday last weekend. Babawi ang ninang!

Greetings to my very special pamangkin, Karla! I wish you well and Tita is missing you so much.

Another happy birthday to my kumareng Antuah!

Belated happy birthday to the wife of my buddy, Warren! Jeng, stay beautiful and happy ^_^ Warren loves you so much.

Happy birthday also to my cousin Abby! Hindi pa ako nakakatikim ng blowout mo ever!

To Gilbert and Joff, magpakain ka naman kayo!

To Warren and Ariel, happy happy birthday din. Wag nyo akong kalimutang imbitahan sa party :D

And to the Goddess, Gems! Waaaa, we’re not getting any younger. Hehehe, stay sweet and makulit as you are. ^_^v Sa Amici ba tayo? Or sa Terry’s? O baka naman sa Apartment 1B?
