Don't Scare the Birds Off

For almost two weeks now, we are able to harvest the fruits of our 6-year old duhat tree. It was very unbelievable that this tree had recovered from severe pest infection last year. Tatay had to cut off the branches until no leaves were left so the rest of the trees nearby won't get infected too, it really looked like a dead tree to me. We actually learned the lessons of sharing. Few years ago, we used to scare the birds off because they eat the fruits. So Daddydemz used sling shot to send them away until the birds disappeared one by one and before we knew the effects of it… the bugs were everywhere.

… Now, after a year, the branches and leaves grew back, the birds are back, we let them share with the fruits and eat the bugs as well. Both of us are happy …

Before its season ends, let me share to you these pictures. With morning "pausok" by Daddydemz and the balanse of nature, our duhat tree survived.

I owe a lot of my passion about trees and plants to my father. He always say, "Iba pa din ang mga natural na pagkain.""Nung bata pa kami, pag wala kaming makain, nangunguha kami ng bayabas sa Lolo ko." He has a lot of stories about it.

I just learned that Duhat or "Black Plum" is good for the stomach but I guess too much is VERY bad.

Yesterday was another Sinigang Day for us... And another SM day for me and JellyPotpot.

This was my weekend.

Birthday With the Angels

Almost teary-eyed, I tried to blow the candle that should signal the start of my post birthday celebration with very special friends. My ‘over-dramatic-to-be’ moment was a taken away from me when my inaanak, Gabu, rushed to my cake and before we knew it, he has blown the candle before I made it. Everyone really laughed.

I was very pleased to see all of them there, most of them were with their sons and daughters, putting forth more time and effort to make this celebration special for me. Raed wasn’t there but I know she would come if not for her family. And she did her best to make a good alibi for not coming, though.

They really made me happy, actually they always do.

What’s for lunch? Waw! Ginataang tahong, hipon and alimasag, Sinigang na tanigue sa miso, Ate Lanie’s ever famous barbeque, hotdog, talong-okra (fresh from ate Rina’s garden) with bagoong , Itlog na Maalat and kamatis.

What’s for miryenda? Woohoo! Squid balls, kikiam, soft tacos, ice cream, cake, pansit!

Thank you thank you thank you!

Thanks Antuah and Fhedz… nice Starex!

The best foods, Ate Rina, Marlone, Ate Lanie and Paul… Hep hep the best! Till next month again and bajillion thank you for sharing your homes for this celebration! You inspire me to take good care of my own future home! :)

To the late comers, Ate Malou and Love… it’s better late than not coming at all! Hehe, may pinaparinggan ako. Videoke tayo ulit!

Always present inaanaks, Pauline, Gabu, Madie and Aidan… may utang ang ninang sa inyo!

And to Tinay, Owen, Nanay Omeng and Edna… you completed my guest list! Muah!

Disconnected

At last, my phone line and dsl connection is now okay. It was five long days of being disconnected. PLDT, I demand for a refund!

Baclaran Day

Ariel and I were almost late for work this afternoon at 2:57pm! Buti na lang umabot pa. Next week, my schedule will be back to 2pm-11pm.

Since I started going home very late, I never had witnessed any crime/violence on the street until this morning on my way home while on a Jasper bus. The driver and conductor happened to have a fight with dispatchers at Coastal Mall. It was a scary moment to see them trying to hit each other. The driver was holding a wrench. Dispatchers were throwing stones, unlucky me I was sitting beside the window. It was not very clear to me what really happened. They only stopped when the other buses behind us were angrily blowing their horns. Thank God no one was badly hurt among passengers.

I am worried about DaddyDemz. He was complaining about headaches and dizziness this morning. I realized he was not smoking the past few days and that is definitely a sign that there is something very wrong with him.

20's Last

Is my birthday really just a week away? I am actually turning twenty nine but I can still feel my age has stuck at twenty four. Why twenty four? I do not know exactly but maybe because it is the age where I realized that I am not getting any younger. This will be my last birthday in my 20’s! :D Okay, anyway … I guess it is time for me to pull myself back together and try my best to write this blog entry in a more serious way as I am suppose to … I really will.

Here we go…

At this point, I want to believe ages are just numbers. You know, maybe some nineteen-year old, or younger, could have more understanding about life than I have. It is totally different when you gone through it yourself. Nothing can replace the lessons you learn from life experience. I am a late bloomer, I would say. I react even on simple things very delayed. My personality would sometimes nail me to digest ideas for a long time before any driving force would come into me. I still find myself holding back from doing things I want to do because I am afraid. And most of the time, I am not a risk taker.

My eldest sister used to tell me when I was in my early teenage years: “At your age, I was already working and taking care of you; I had to exert extra effort to continue schooling because I had to work…” Each of my siblings has their own different stories to tell about hardships in life, in love and tough experiences. They are living proofs of bitter sweet life. And during those times, I was busy enjoying school and mastering academics. I was only worried about my exams and projects. Sometimes I still feel that I am a failure, but sometimes I feel I am just starting…and the latter is better.

I know I have so much to discover about life, about myself.

Before I end this entry, let me list down some of the things I have learned so far in the ripe old age of 29…

1 Never stop dreaming. I had wild dreams that came true! This is one of my batteries in life. Whenever I run out of reasons, I just gaze up there in the sky and look for my stars.

2 Love, love, love. Love is free.

3 Enjoy every moment of your life. It is too fast and too short. Slow it down by keeping yourself always excited about tomorrow.

Maybe I’ll just get everyone together for a snack somewhere. I really don’t have plans of throwing any party like I did last year because I am saving my budget for something.

Happy Happy Birthday to all the month of MAY babies, my fellow Taurusians, Taureans, Taurus people, whatever! :D … and everyone else too!

Thanks for all the advanced greetings since last week :)!

First Of May

Why does it feel like I did enjoy the morning shift schedule??? It’s Labor Day but I had to go to the office and instead of my usual mid shift, I requested for an earlier schedule. Even though I only spent 3 hours of sleep last night, I really thought the time was running faster than on a mid shift. How was that so? I don’t know. Or maybe it was the snack break, the lunch and another snack break.

Speaking of lunch, we took our lunch at (Joel Torre’s) JT’s Manukan. You should try there sometimes and your taste buds will thank you.

I am very excited to know that my girls have learned how to swim. According to them, they already can! Earlier today was their 5th session and they’re very excited about the next half. Actually, I am starting to feel insecure as they said “Diving” will be part of the next sessions. Hmmmm, I think I should be spying on them sometimes because diving is not part of my resume. I can feel JellyPotPot’s tiredness. Just few minutes she was talking to me, and now she’s already sleeping. She even put Salonpas (gel patches) on both of her legs. But most of all, they are definitely enjoying their swimming lessons.

It's Nanay's birthday today!

Best wishes to Melay!

Finally, happy weekend to everyone!
