A New Glance

Today marks the new colors (orange, green, yeallow and white) for my blog site ^_^. I like it! The leaves, the clouds are stunning and the white part is more emphasized – perfect!!! I would like to give credits to Twitter, “pahiram ha?” Thanks!

These bright colors define the peculiar ME. While most girls like pink and baby blue... I like yellow. And while most people like love the beautiful places on earth... I love the stars and the rainbows in the sky. That is ME!

Kiss The Cook

Tweet.I created my very first tweet yesterday! It’s kinda funny coz I don’t want anyone to follow me on my twitter account. LOL! .. and LOL again! Bwahaha. Ewan. :-)) To date, I have tweeted three four until this morning. More to come! ^_^

What’s for Lunch? Well, it’s Daddy Demz favorite, “MY” Pancit Canton! It really amazed me when I cooked this recipe for the first time, everybody who tasted it, loved it! Syempre because of the "secret ingredient". I was actually the worst cook in my family. Lola is the best, next is Nanay Rose. Dith and Ate are almost equally good, then there’s Kuya and Tatay. I am actually at the bottom! Grrrr. ;-D Wahahaha! If you are surrounded with great cooks, then you should know that cooking is not anymore in the pile of your workloads at home. But Lola and Nanay are gone, Dith is away… I said to myself, “I have to do something!” … I practiced.

Now, I can cook!

I can cook anytime I want.

I can cook anything I want.

I can cook what Tatay wants.

I can cook and sing in between.

I can eat what I cook.

But … I am not a good cook.

Simeon. Do animals do get jealous? Oh my God! If the answer is yes, then Putol is… I spend more time with Simeon now – especially that cute little cat is soooo playful! Ang sarap kilitiin! Masarap din kitiin si Putol... (naman! may kasamang tulo laway pa!) Putol, don't be jealous, you are still my number one dog :D

Oh my! ....It's time to go to the bank! Waaaaa.

Never Say Never

… ♪♫ I will never say never! (I will fight)
I will fight till forever! (make it right)
♪♫

The 2010 remake of Karate Kid movie is awesome! Jaden is sooooo lovable portaying the character of Dre Parker - and THE CUTE LITTLE ABS!!!! It was really worth waiting on that very long lines. The plot of the story is pretty much straight forward but still enjoyable, so much – especially for the kiddy-hearted ME :-) Even without seeing the movie, I would probably know the ending but I still enjoyed the scenes! Kids even clapped their hands when Dre won on the final battle – while I could NOT!

Of course, I got teary-eyed towards the ending part! ;-D I love to see Jackie Chan did something different in this movie. Love you, Mr. Han!

It was really a night to remember. A night I could call “magical”. The “magic” of double large Burger King Whooper, large Onion Rings, biggie Sarsi, Piknik Shoestrings, Potato chips, Kenny Roger’s Chicken Quarter, cups of side dishes, muffins and rice – never done in years!!!

It was also the first time I saw Noelle Cassandra, a harpist (or whatever they call her :-D) and really she did look like an angel while playing the harp! Hehehe. Kung ako kaya mag play ng harp, magmumukha din kaya akong angel? :-D

And the magical full moon guided us on our way home because it was already midnight!!! And the rest is history.

Lazy Week

I have to credit Darwin for this…

Darwin: “Who is the son of Charles Babbage?”

            … (sino?!)

Darwin: “Si modern computer… because Charles Babbage is the father of modern computer.”

Hahaha!! :-D Pasensya na, I have been so stressed lately and this joke just got funnier to me than everyone else does! LOL ;-D

Why stressed? Kasi lagging kulang ang tulog ko! Probably 4PM-1Am is my least favorite among my shift schedules. Parang hindi talaga ako nasasatisfy sa tulog ko. Sadly, it is still my choice to live with it :-/ Well anyway, I’ll be on morning shift again next week *excited!* -- NO MORE FOUR-HOUR TRAVEL Yahoo!

Simeon...

Meet our naughtiest sweetest irresistable kitty, Simeon.

Sometime in 21st of June, Ate Lanie and I had this conversation…

Meeyeow: “ate lanie, happy birthday!!!”

Lanie: “salamat pero ulitin mo ng june 22”

Meeyeow: “hahahahahhhaha”

Meeyeow: "mali yung alarm ko kainis"

Lanie: "bwhahahha"

Lanie: "bwhahhaha"

Meeyeow: "hahahhhaa"

Lanie: "baka mali un date setting"

Meeyeow: "hahaha, malamang"

It was my calendar’s fault! Hahahaha! It was accidentally set to alarm a day before June 22! So masyado palang advanced ang greetings ko! LOL. Then I greeted her again the next day. :-)

----

San Juan Feast…

June 24 is celebrated in our town with water fight!!! Waaaaaa! Yes, water fight! Coincidentally, the tide is high on this day. Water on the rivers is high enough to flood the roads. People are everywhere outside their home, drinking beers, drenching water and kauging at each other. Who doesn’t love water fights?! Unfortunately for me, it becomes legal on this day!!! Every 24th of June every year, I have to struggle going to school/work because everyone outside was trying to douse water on me! I don’t really want to be a KJ (kill joy) but please spare me!

My worst San Juan feast experience in Cavite was in College where drunken men threw a bucketful of mud water on my jeep as early as 7AM! I really had to go back home and take a day off. :-( Even if I was turning red with anger because my white blouse turned black, I was not able to confront those BULLIES because they already flew and hid across the street corner into an alley! DAMN!

I just hope it won’t happen again TODAY! T_T

It won’t happen again NEXT YEAR! ^_^

Little Angel

I was asked by my sister to write something about my niece, Karla, because after the singing contest Karla won, she was somehow informed that her daughter could be featured on a local newspaper!

I did not hesitate and I started right away! When I was in the middle of my story, I felt happiness with a dash of fulfillment that even if this would not be featured on that newspaper, I could write all the things about her over and over again for me to remember how she has been my little chubby angel from the day she was born until that very moment.

And here it goes…

Our only daughter Karla Joven Bergado has been very eager to showcase her singing talent ever since she was a little kid. When my husband and I tried our luck here in United Kingdom

in 2002, although against our will, we had to leave our sweet daughter in the Philippines to give her the best future.

A lot of times, my sister used to tell us that our little chubby 3-year old angel joined a singing and dancing contests during barangay celebrations without them knowing about the audition. Sometimes she would win, sometimes not. She was such a joy to my family especially to my father who was the guardian of Karla during her stay in the Philippines when we were away.

Karla also writes her own songs. She even has a YouTube channel (minxpinay) where she puts all of her own song compositions. This is her way to express herself and connect with her friends through her talent. I strongly believe that she got her singing talent from her father who was a church choir member.

With her enthusiasm in singing and the confidence she always has, she joined a lot of musicals in school. Her school has their own version of Hairspray musical where she got the lead role. This year, she also went for Hagbane Doom musical audition in Oxford. Luckily, she got the part! The play will be shown on June 30.

Her winning moment in the Independence Day Celebration last June 19, 2010 in Oxford was such an achievement for her. My husband and I were very scared during her performance but she was so positive and confident, which she silently told me that she is now ready to show her talent to the world. Even though she did not get the 1st prize but for us, she our No.1!

Aside from singing, she really dreams of being an excellent doctor someday.

Life Saving Blood Donations

It has been my advocacy to donate blood for others. I may not know who directly benefits my blood, or if it has been used by others yet… I still feel that I have done something generously amazing.

My mother died of colon cancer twelve years ago. She has gone a lot of surgeries which needed dozens of blood transfusions. She could not have made it to be with us for six more months without the help of blood donors with AB type. The whole family is forever grateful for that.

My very first blood donation happened two years ago, in DLSU-D University Medical Center, for the benefit of my college friend’s mother-in-law, who badly needed blood for her surgery. Although I was very scared, I still managed to be calm throughout the procedure because I really wanted to make a difference. The Zesto juice drink actually did most of the calming part!!! ;-D

Last Friday, I donated blood again thorough the campaign of Philippines Red Cross. The only doubt I had in my mind was my weight because I was just a little over 50 kilos… but I still passed and according to the doctor, that was okay. The procedure lasted for 30 minutes including the resting time.

The needles were very mean for few minutes but it was worth it!!!

So I encourage all of you to have your self screened for blood donations. It will really help others and it is good for you too! To inquire, visit Philippine National Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org.ph) for more information.

Hair and Scissors

I really wanted to cut my hair yesterday, so I did. I did it -- on my own. Nagkukuripot lang. No one actually noticed at the office. Though it was just a few inches and besides I was out of office the whole week.

Without the intention to really cut my hair shorter like last year, I just trimmed off the split ends. And I love the result. Hey love your own!

Hindi Ko Magaya Ang Pansit Ni Ti Mercy

Good morning, Sleepy Heads!

Matagal-tagal na ding nirerequest sa akin ni Daddy Demz na iluto ko yung paborito nyang Pansit Henoy daw na gaya nung binibili namin dati sa tindahan ni Ti Mercy.

Ti Mercy’s store is the longest running store in the entire barangay. It is still open until now but not as much as alive as before since there are a lot of newer sari-sari stores around. But her pansit will live forever in our hearts :-D

I woke up at 7:00AM and started cooking right away (may muta pa ata ako non).

And the finish product!

I bet next week will be a challenging week! Transition! Transition!

Ailyn’s Birthday

Ailyn has been with us since 2007. She’s like a family to us. And it is her birthday yesterday! Ate Doll prepared her favorite ulam, Paksiw na Pata and Sopas at lunch.

At dinner time, we had our all-time favorite Barbeque and Marshmallow party outside kahit na medyo umuulan-ulan pa.

Happy Birthday!

Nakisama naman ang panahon at tumigil dina ng ulan.

Sopas Time!

The last part was playing Pinoy Henyo before we called it a night.

Happy birthday, Ailyn! I hope you enjoyed our party.
